There are 16 countries that make up West Africa. They are namely Burkina Faso, Benin, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Ghana, Gambia, Ivory Coast,Liberia, Mauritania, Mali,Nigeria, Niger, Sierra Leone, Senegal, and Togo. Each of these countries is rich in natural resources. Some are rich in gold, and some are rich in diamonds, oil, iron, copper, uranium, bauxite, and many more. However, these countries have to go through a lot of struggle to purify a raw material or metal.
Many of the mining companies use traditional furnaces for smelting and purifying metals and melting scrap materials. The traditional furnaces consist of oil, gas, combustion furnaces. Though these furnaces can give good results, but lots of heat loss, metal loss, and pollution is released during the process. Therefore, this reduces the rate of production. To help increase the rate of production, mining companies in West Africa should use induction furnaces.
How Will Induction Furnaces Increase Production?
Induction furnaces are an advanced version of electrical furnaces. They allow you to save energy and also offer many benefits over other furnace systems. These benefits can greatly help increase the rates of production. They include:
- Increased Production–Induction furnaces use induction heat, which is a quick form of producing heat. This feature allows the furnace to melt gold easily and within a short period of time. Moreover, the time for heating treatment is shorter as compared to other furnaces, and this allows smelting companies in West Africa to benefit from high rates of production.
- Natural Stirring –Induction furnaces do not require molten metal to start a medium frequency induction. There is a built-in medium frequency unit which is capable of giving a strong stirring action, therefore, resulting in a homogeneous melt.
- ShorterStartup Time–When not in use, induction furnaces can be turned off. This is because restarting the furnace takes less time. Full power is made available through the power supply to the furnace, and this reduces the startup time. There is no need for a cooling downor warm up cycle.
- Energy Efficient –Inductionfurnaces are highly energy efficient. Since there is no use of combustion to produce heat, less energy is wasted. These furnaces are capable of reducing the energy consumption of melting gold and other metals.Induction furnaces use induction heating, which is a much effective and cleaner way of producing heat.
All of these benefits prove that using induction furnaces for smelting in West Africa is the best way to increase production.
